Baba Roga and the Shaman

A known figure in all of Slavic lore, Baba Roga is truly a mysterious figure: a healer, a witch, an omen - these are but three of her many qualities the folk of yore have told of, be it as a warning to young children or relief for wronged women.

This is one such tale, only… you get to learn of Baba Roga’s most famous former lover, the Shaman of Sparrow Hills.

See, Baba Roga rarely takes in apprentices, but for you, she made an exception (she was desperate). You impressed her with your skills in witchcraft and an eager attitude (you looked desperate too).

She sends you on a daring quest through the Veles Valley to retrieve powerful items the Shaman of Sparrow Hills wrongfully has in his possession.

(Look, the breakup went pretty badly and explosively - I mean, these are two powerful witches we're talking about - and her stuff is still at his place and you need to get them. Not necessarily dangerous items either, but you might fight something useful while you're there.)

Will you survive the trip? Or will you return empty handed? Will you invoke the Shaman's ire? Or will you be extra careful not to wake him up while he's having his post-lunch afternoon nap?

It's up to you, apprentice of Roga.

5 items, 4 traps and 5 enemy types as a basis for you to create more. 

A map that you can travel through and invent various enemy encounters, goals or traps. 

Basic rules for movement, interaction, combat, or anything else using only three six-sided dice.

This OnePage RPG is part of our Sandbox series where we include the map,  the rules, and the story, but we call it a sandbox since it is aimed to be a basis for people to build upon, expand, or tweak in any way possible. If you play it in a homebrew way that you find more interesting, then you're doing the right thing :). On the other hand, if you play it exactly as we intended, that's also fine.

When we started PrintNPlay, this was the first template that we created.  This enabled us to grow and build more complex TTRPGs and other types of tabletop games. Returning to this sandbox is always a pleasure and we did so specifically for OnePageRPG Jam 2024 as a sort of remembrance of what we used to be 2 years ago when we started making printable games :)
